Choose one of the central course concepts and track where you think it appears in the guiding conceptual questions of each area of exploration. Consider whether it appeared in all the areas and if it didn't in any one of the areas formulate questions that connect the concept to that area. If it did appear, suggest questions that might make the connection with the concept more meaningful.

CONCEPT: PERSPECTIVE

Everybody has their own way of perceiving things. We come from different families, different backgrounds and different experiences. Even when we speak the same language, we can misunderstand each other because we all see things differently. We all have different PERSPECTIVES or perceptions that are influenced by diverse factors including culture, language, history, education, etc.

PERSPECTIVE as a global and open concept leads us to varied interpretations and understandings of the world.

READERS, WRITERS AND TEXTS

In this area of exploration, PERSPECTIVE explicitly appears in the following guiding questions:

Why and how do we study language and literature?	How are we affected by texts in various ways?	In what ways is meaning constructed, expressed and discovered?
Perspective can be seen here when different reasons and approaches come to play depending on the purpose, the goals, and the perceptions of those interested in studying literature and language. There can be many perspectives. For instance, social, political, academic, etc.	Every time we read a book or watch a movie or a play, we respond to those with different thoughts and feelings.	The way in which we construct knowledge and meaning is moderated by different perspectives that lead to diverse interpretations and findings.

TIME AND SPACE

The guiding questions in this AOE fit the concept of perspective effortlessly.  As language is seen a as social phenomenon interwoven with culture, history, society, perspective is given since very diverse angles. For instance, the exploration of a theme like identity through different authors can open discussion on different cultural practices and beliefs. 

INTERTEXTUALITY: CONNECTING TEXTS

In this AOE, I can see the concept of perspective in the following guiding questions:

In what ways can diverse texts share points of similarity?	How can texts offer multiple perspectives of a single issue, topic or theme?
The comparative study of distinctive texts offers students the possibility of gaining deeper appreciation of characteristics of individual texts and their connections to others.	As an audience member, learners need to understand that a topic or theme can be conceived from different points of view. This will lead to a flexible thinking and creativity development.
